The final round of the annual draughts tournament in sunny Spain took place yesterday. Surprises at the finish line are common in sports, but the outcome was not unexpected this time.
Gantvarg demonstrated remarkable class and experience, 𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝 from the beginning until the end of the tournament. It is noteworthy that he will turn 75 this year, and he is still in great mental shape, ahead of quite a few younger international grandmasters. Huge

In a close second place, with just one point less, was Alexander Shvartsman from Israel, while Dutchman Hein Meijer secured his spot on the podium, rounding out the top three.
The highest-ranked woman in the tournament was Viktoriya Motrichko from Ukraine.
